Glorifying Our Lady with the Mediatrix Dogma
This magazine gives us a glimpse on the event that occurred on August 22, 2015, on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary and the 64th Patronal Fiesta of the Cathedral of the Diocese of Digos, Mary Mediatrix of All Grace Cathedral in Digos City, which launched the Movement For A Dogmatic Definition Of Mary’s Universal Mediation Of Grace. Bishop-Convenors of the said movement were Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, Archbishop Jose Palma, Bishop Camilo Gregorio, Bishop Guillermo Afable, Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, and Bishop Antonio Rañola.
The movement has two main goals, namely, the spread of the Crusade of Prayer and Consecration, and to solicit the support of Bishops worldwide to sign the petition. Though the movement was suddenly put into a stop in achieving its mission and vision in obedience to and upon the release of the Protocol 226/1949 on the Lipa Apparitions or the December 11, 2015 Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) Decree, it is also good to read a magazine that speaks about a dogma relating to Mary’s universal mediation.
In 1906, a Carmelite nun, Mother Magdalen of Jesus, Prioress of a Carmelite Convent in Belgium, received locutions that God intensely desired the glorification of Mary through a dogmatic definition of Mary’s universal mediation of grace. She worked with the Belgian Cardinal Joseph-Desire Mercier for the cause of the Mediatrix dogma. In response to this, Pope Benedict XV in 1921 established the feast of Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces in the liturgical calendar and assigned May 31 for its celebration.
In 1948, a Carmelite postulant Sr. Teresita Castillo received the heavenly visitations of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lipa Carmel naming herself as Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace.
The cause of the Mediatrix dogma and the cause of the Lipa Apparition is not too far related and which only glorifies Our Lady as the Mediatrix of her Son, Jesus Christ the Lord.
