After the death of the visionary, starting December 2016 was heard on the Radio Veritas Program of exorcist priests that Lipa Apparition was somehow demonic and the image should be destroyed. I remember an elementary schooler who happened to have listened to the program and called me via Facebook call asking if what the priest was saying was true, that we should powderise the images of the Mediatrix of Lipa Apparition because they are infested. Several others commented on having heard the exorcist priest of Manila gave such talk.
Fr. Jose Francisco “Jocis” Syquia even wrote a Commentary on the Presumed Marian Apparitions in Lipa published in “Boletin Eclesiastico de Filipinas”, Vol XCIII, NOS 927 and 928 (July-October 2017 issue). Herein he laid down, by the virtue of his office and knowledge, the reasons why he pronounced Lipa Apparition and the images of the Mediatrix demonic and the visionary as possessed.
This was another blow to the devotees. What pain could it give when the image of Mother Mary you loved so dearly was accused of being infested and demonic? Many images of Our Lady Mary Mediatrix of All Grace were even altered so that it will not depict anymore that of the image of Lipa Apparition. Some were painted with different colors, were added a heart or a crown like that of Our Lady of Fatima or Immaculate Heart or painted with gold trimmings, some altered the hands or the form of the fingers.
But again, the steadfastness of faith prevailed. Indeed, faith matters! No amount of negative decrees or demonic accusations could break the devotion, they can shake, but could never really shatter or stop the devotion of the real devotees of the Mediatrix, the Lady at Lipa! The devotees continued on their devotions and loving this title of the Virgin Mary, firmly believing in their hearts and minds that Our Lady visited the Philippines in Lipa Carmel in 1948.
