The devotions remained suppressed but continued silently. Two foreigner priests brought statues of Our Lady to their assigned parishes in Mindanao where the devotion to Our Lady Mary Mediatrix of All Grace also flourished silently.
Meanwhile, in Batangas and many other places, the silent devotion continued. Until on May 21, 1990, Archbishop Mariano Gaviola suddenly decided to expose for public veneration the image of Our Lady during the funeral mass of Sr. Alphonse. When she was still alive, Sr. Alphonse shared with Archbishop Gaviola her faith and belief on the Lipa Apparitions and her great desire that the image of Our Lady will be put back into public veneration. Her wish was granted on her funeral mass. In so short a notice, people filled Lipa Carmel wishing to venerate again the image of Our Mother that has been hidden from them for 40 years!
On July 16, 1991, feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, after seeing so many people flocking to Lipa Carmel during the nine days novena, Archbishop Gaviola announced that the sacred image of Mary Mediatrix of All Grace will be exposed for daily veneration, literally lifting the ban on the devotion to Our Lady Mary Mediatrix of All Grace.
